Mitch Rhoden and Anthony Mullins, two members of Futren Hospitality’s executive team, are volunteering their time and talents for the annual charity event supporting Shepherd’s Men and the SHARE military initiative at Shepherd Center. This 2-day event includes dinner at Indian Hills Country Club and a clay shoot at Barnsley Gardens. For those who prefer not to shoot, there will be a variety of other activities including cigar bars, bourbon tasting, fly-tying lessons, wine tasting, and gun demos. Shepherd’s Men and the SHARE initiative focus on military men and women, specifically those who have suffered from traumatic brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder. The SHARE initiative at Shepherd Center is a rehabilitation program that strives towards efficient and beneficial assessment and treatment of PTSD and TBI (traumatic brain injuries) sustained from Iraq and Afghanistan.
PTSD and TBI affect 1 in every 5 service members, and with the help of Shepherd Center’s SHARE Initiative, service members and their families have access to education, assistance, and support that will help them move forward after treatment. We live in an environment where there are 20 to 22 Military suicides per day; SHARE has never lost a client to suicide during the life of this amazing program. Futren Hospitality is honored to participate in this event to generate the important resources required for sustaining this life-saving program.
