Bring on the Bermuda

4/24/2018

Please join us in our excitement as we begin renovation of the greens and bunkers on the Seminole course at Indian Hills Country Club! Other than occasional days when the entire nine holes will be closed, Seminole will be open for play using the temporary greens we have installed.  We will, once again, employ the use of the large cups on these temporary greens.

As with the Choctaw greens renovation, we have enlisted the help of many professionals to ensure another successful project. Architects, Billy Fuller and Bobby Cupp, have planned the greens sites and surrounds, as well as new bunker design. Once the new greens have been constructed, they will be sprigged with TifEagle Ultra-dwarf Bermuda grass, the same as Choctaw. This process will also include reducing, moving, and re-constructing all new bunkers with the latest in drainage technology to ensure consistent play for years to come. Pristine Golf, the same contractor used for the Choctaw renovation, will be performing the Seminole project.
Next week, while Pristine Golf will be mobilizing equipment to begin the project, we will be stripping healthy bent grass in-house to re-stock our nursery green here at IHCC. We will also transport some bent grass needed at our sister courses at The Orchard and Woodland Hills. Pristine Golf will actually begin demo of the greens and bunker sites before May 1st. As many of you may have noticed a discoloration on Seminole greens, we have applied two herbicide treatments to eradicate existing Bermuda from the putting surface. Although all of the greens will be dug out, this is an extra step we chose to perform as an added precaution.

The construction phase of this project will take about two months followed by a two month grow-in period. Our target date for re-opening will be Labor Day weekend. If you have any questions, please email me at dfreeman@futren.com.
